Tonje Li is a visual artist and photographer based in Bergen, Norway.

Her practice leans towards a poetic and emotional understanding of the world, and how we perceive the world through our senses. Her images are ambiguous and invite the viewers to find their own visual connections and stories.

-I use photography as a tool to reveal connections between different life forms, phenomena, and objects. Materiality, fragments and strangeness tickle my emotions when encountering objects or situations. I consider the photographs in my archive as building blocks, using them to reconstruct and combine to spark imagination.

She holds an MA from the Faculty for Photography, Bergen Academy of Contemporary Art and is a member of Norwegian visual artists associations  BKFH, NBK, and FFF.

Tonje is currently working on a photobook in collaboration with Nearest Truth.

Her work has been exhibited at Bergen Kjøtt, CM7, Østfold Kunstsenter, Høstutstillingen, Østlandsutstillingen, National Musum in Kaunas, Lithuania, Berliner Kunstsalon, among other. CV on request.
